QUEIJADA
1997-2020 by Tina Layton BHSI
Queijada was a true lady, and a very loving one. My heart is broken that she is no longer looking out of her stable and demanding attention from everyone.
I would like to thank Sylvia and Allegra for trusting me with their precious horse, I was asked to take her on and see whether we could promote the Lusitano breed through competition. We completed very successfully BD and had just got to PSG when unfortunately I became ill and had to stop competing her.
We trained with some super coaches including Arthur Kottas and Stephen Clarke. Her Piaffe and Passage were something to be envied by many people, and later in her life she was able to give the fantastic classical feel to some very lucky clients at Contessa Riding Centre in Hertfordshire, I always called her a Piaffe machine.
The Luso breed are obviously very talented in the Piaffe/Passage department. They are also very sensitive and one has to be very careful with their training because of the sensitivity. Having had the beauty of being able to ride and train Queijada, I have since purchased four other Lusos
Queijada, bred by Jose Henriques Da Silva, Herdeiros, imported by Sylvia Loch for her daughter Allegra before moving to Contessa Riding Centre to start her dressage career with proprietor and international GP rider Tina Layton stallions, so it shows how I have fallen in love with the breed.
