TESSALA

2000 - 2023

We were very sad to say goodbye to Tess (Tessala) inFebruary 2023.  Bred by Janine Pendlebury-Lee at Pen Llyn Lusitano Stud by her foundation stallion, Hilario, and her Cleveland Bay x Shire mare, Melody, Tess became part of our family of horses when she was three, but as a favourite of Jan, she only allowed it because she knew Tess wouldn’t go far.

QUEIJADA

1997-2020 by Tina Layton BHSI

Queijada was a true lady, and a very loving one.  My heart is broken that she is no longer looking out of her stable and demanding attention from everyone.

I would like to thank Sylvia and Allegra for trusting me with their precious horse, I was asked to take her on and see whether we could promote the Lusitano breed through competition.   We completed very successfully BD and had just got to PSG when unfortunately I became ill and had to stop competing her.

We trained with some super coaches including Arthur Kottas and Stephen Clarke.  Her Piaffe and Passage were something to be envied by many people, and later in her life she was able to give the fantastic classical feel to some very lucky clients at Contessa Riding Centre in Hertfordshire, I always called her a Piaffe machine.

The Luso breed are obviously very talented in the Piaffe/Passage department.  They are also very sensitive and one has to be very careful with their training because of the sensitivity.  Having had the beauty of being able to ride and train Queijada, I have since purchased four other Lusos

Queijada, bred by Jose Henriques Da Silva, Herdeiros, imported by Sylvia Loch for her daughter Allegra before moving to Contessa Riding Centre to start her dressage career with proprietor and international GP rider Tina Layton stallions, so it shows how I have fallen in love with the breed.

ZELOSO

Born 2004 by Justicero ll out of Arab Galisha.

2004 – 2016

Zeddy has taught me so much over the years and I had the pleasure of training him from a very powerful,

headstrong and unbacked horse through to piaffe, county shows and freestyle dressage.

I was honoured enough to show him under the watchful eye of judge Sylvia Loch,

and to my surprise she liked him and placed us first in-hand and ridden, thank you.

I have to say thank you to his owners Pippa Windle-baker and Mike Noble. who put their trust in me to train and ride this beautiful boy. Thanks to all who have helped me back and ride him, trained us, looked after him and been support throughout.

Zeloso has really influenced my love of the Lusitano breed and how incredible they are. Special thanks to Sheila Lowe for being there today and being so kind xx Thanks to Zeddy, it’s been amazing 💗💗 sleep tight  x
